Thilo Späth (born June 8, 1987 in Achern , today Thilo Späth-Westerholt ) is a German volleyball player .

Career

His volleyball career began in 1997. However, he celebrated his first success as a beach volleyball player : At the U18 European Championships in 2004 in Mysłowice , he reached the final with Marko Kienast . At that time he was still playing for his first club, TV Kappelrodeck . A year later he took part in the European Youth Championship as a volleyball player. In the 2005/06 season he was trained with the Volley YoungStars, the youth team of VfB Friedrichshafen , and still played his first Bundesliga game because he was appointed to replace the injured Libero Alexis Valido . He then came to the Europa League in 2006 for his first appearances in the senior national team . After a year at VC Olympia Berlin , Späth moved to SV Bayer Wuppertal because the libero position in Friedrichshafen was occupied by Markus Steuerwald . In 2010 he finally returned to the German champions. Here Späth was German champion in 2011 and German cup winner in 2012 and 2014. In the 2014/15 season he achieved the national double of championship and DVV cup victory with VfB Friedrichshafen.
