Surname
The name of the Tiefenbach is probably derived from its old form, Dyffenbach or Dieffenbach (analogous to the two Beselich villages of Nieder- and Obertiefenbach).
geography
course
The Tiefenbach rises in the northern Limburg Basin from a source in the forest north of Obertiefenbach . A 1000 meter long tributary leads to water from the meadows in the Mur from the right in the direction of Oberweyer in times of greater rainfall .
Initially south to southwest of running, he will soon come out of the forest and home to more than a kilometer, the district boundary between Obertiefenbach and Steinbach that until 1 July 1974 at the same time the border between the former counties Oberlahnkreis and of Limburg was. Today this course forms the border between the municipality of Beselich and the city of Hadamar .
Then he bends to the southeast, passes under the 49 trunk road on the upper Tiefenbacher driveway, and flows through the deposit trench in place until in the as Hinterbach designated extinguishing water pond . This has served the Obertiefenbach fire brigade as a water extraction point for more than 100 years .
The Tiefenbach leaves the pond at about 700 meters underground through the stream piping created in 1960 to not far from the lower main street of Obertiefenbach. Before it was piped, the brook had a wide bed near what is now the town hall , which was colloquially called Padsbach (horse trough ).
The Tiefenbach now flows through meadows ( the Au ) and on the sloping edge of the forest below the Beselicher head towards Niedertiefenbach and runs through this place southwards. Then it flows along the slope of the Mendele hill into a small reservoir created by limestone mining . It then flows through a partially forested landscape through a wetland with further limestone mining areas and another lake on the northern edge of the Runkel district of Steeden . It then runs through the center of the village partly underground and finally flows into the middle Lahn from the right .
