music
Tiersen's musical style combines French folk music , chanson and musette with elements from rock and pop music . The use of repetitive, slightly varied sequences brings him close to minimal music . Tiersen's music is often associated with the works of musicians Pascal Comelade , Philip Glass , Michael Nyman and Eric Satie . Due to his collaboration with other French musicians, Tiersen is considered an important person in the new French chanson scene , which is often labeled as Nouvelle Chanson . The film Die fabelbare Welt der Amélie , whose film music was composed by Tiersen, increased awareness of French pop music in Germany .
Tiersen plays most of his publications as a "one-man orchestra". He often uses the piano , accordion , mandolin , bass , guitar , banjo , melodica , vibraphone and various rhythm instruments, some with orchestral string arrangements. The majority of his music titles are instrumental pieces, although guest musicians or himself sing on some of them.
