Timm Kröger (born November 29, 1844 in Haale ( Rendsburg district ), † March 29, 1918 in Kiel ) was a German lawyer and writer . He wrote novellas , stories and sketches that describe the Holstein farm and country life. His nephew was the imperial building officer Jürgen Kröger .

Life

Timm Kröger was born as the son of the wealthy farmer Hans Kröger (1800–1855) and the Trienke born. Bornhold († 1888) born. After attending elementary school in Hohenwestedt, he managed his mother's senior part. In 1864 he decided to study law . During his studies at Kiel University , he became a member of the Teutonia fraternity in Kiel in 1864 . His other places of study included Zurich , Leipzig and Berlin .

In 1869 he was a trainee lawyer in Meldorf , where he also met his first wife Wiebcke Catharina Margaretha Idaline, nee. Boie († 1887) got to know, whom he married in 1876, and then worked in Altona and Kiel. He later lived as a district judge and assistant public prosecutor in Calbe an der Saale and some East and West Prussian towns: Lyck , Pillkallen , Angerburg and Marienburg. From 1876 he worked as a lawyer and notary in Flensburg , from 1880 in Elmshorn and from 1892 in Kiel. In 1903 he gave up his profession and has lived as a freelance writer ever since.

With his wife Idaline geb. Boie he had at least two children, a daughter named Louise Helene (born June 2, 1877 Flensburg) and a son named Hans Boie (born February 8, 1879 Flensburg).

On February 7, 1890, he married Hilda Elfrieda Jacobine Boie (born June 13, 1852) in Altona , daughter of the late owner Friedrich Theodor Boie and Beate Friedericke nee. Voss from Thalingburen , parish Meldorf .

Artistic creation

In his handwritten résumé of Timm Kröger , handwritten in 1902 , he reports that his acquaintance with Detlev von Liliencron, who was the same age, stimulated him to produce literary products . The humorous sketch "Die Roßtrappe von Neudorf" was published in the naturalistic literary magazine Die Gesellschaft with Liliencron's assistance . Kröger's literary role models include Theodor Storm , Wilhelm Raabe and Leo Tolstoy . As a writer, he described rural life in Schleswig-Holstein, inspired by his childhood in Haale. His storytelling has impressionistic and humorous traits.

In many North German communities streets and schools were named after him.
