Tobias Weidinger

Tobias Weidinger (* 1977 in Nuremberg ) is a German lead trumpeter and flugelhorn player who is not only active in jazz , but also as a studio musician .

Weidinger began playing the piano at the age of six; As an autodidact , he learned the trumpet from the age of 13. Peter Herbolzheimer chose him for his Rhythm Combination & Brass at the age of 22 . Between 2004 and 2008 he was a member of the Vienna Art Orchestra ; at the same time he played in the George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band . He also recorded albums with both bands. In 2010 he toured with the Carla Bley BigBand. In 2012 Wolfgang Dauner brought him into the second generation of the United Jazz + Rock Ensemble . As a freelance musician, he also frequently took part in productions by Metropole Orkest and the WDR Big Band . He can also be heard on CDs with Herbert Joos , with Flip Phillips / Ed Partyka , with Torsten Goods , with Norma Winstone and the NDR big band as well as Jack Bruce and Billy Cobham and the hr big band . In 2011 his debut album T-Funk was released .

He also played with Clark Terry , Ack van Rooyen , Jim McNeely , Al Porcino , Joe Lovano , Bob Mintzer , Nils Landgren , Albert Mangelsdorff , Les McCann , Dianne Reeves , Abdullah Ibrahim , Jeff Cascaro and Steve Swallow . In the pop area he has worked for Die fantastischen Vier , The Temptations , The Supremes , Sarah Connor , Stefanie Heinzmann , Ron Spielman , Max Herre , Broilers and Die Toten Hosen, among others . He was also in the live bands of the TV shows DSDS and Let's Dance . He is married to the saxophonist Susanne Weidinger .
