Todd Anthony Brost (born September 23, 1967 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player and coach .

Career

Todd Brost began his career as a hockey player with the Penticton Knights, for which he was active from 1983 to 1985 in the Canadian junior league British Columbia Hockey League . He then studied for four years at the University of Michigan , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel to his studies in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association . From 1989 to 1992 he participated with Team Canada in their Olympic preparation. Following the 1992 Winter Games, he made his professional ice hockey debut for EV Zug from the Swiss National League A towards the end of the 1991/92 season , but only made one appearance for the team. In the 1992/93 season , the center appeared for the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in the International Hockey League , in which he scored a total of 22 scorer points, including five goals, in 82 games. During the 1993/94 season he took part again with Team Canada in its Olympic preparation, but received no place for the final Olympic squad. He last played for Huntington Blizzard in the ECHL in the 1994/95 season before ending his career at the age of 27. In addition to his ice hockey career , he started for the Phoenix Cobars in the professional inline hockey league Roller Hockey International in the 1994 season .

From 1996 to 2000 Brost was the head coach for the El Paso Buzzards from the Western Professional Hockey League . With the team he won in the seasons 1996/97 and 1997/98 respectively the President's Cup , the championship of the WPHL. In the 1996/97 season he was also named Trainer of the Year at the WPHL. In the following two years he was eliminated with the Texans in the first playoff round. From 2000 to 2005 he was also head coach of the Elmira Jackals from the United Hockey League . Towards the end of the 2004/05 season , the Canadian was replaced in Elmira by his compatriot Dave Schultz .

International

For Canada Brost took part in the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , where he won the silver medal with his team.
