After a season with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks in the AHL, the Estonian international played in the 2001/02 season for Luleå HF in the Elitserien. He then moved to their league rivals and at the same time his ex-club Malmö Redhawks, which he left after a year and a half in the course of the 2003/04 season to go hunting for goals for Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk .
In the summer of 2004 Suursoo signed with the Herning Blue Fox from the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen , with whom he became Danish champions for the first time in the following season .
