Tom Pohlmann

Tom Pohlmann (* 20th January 1962 as Thomas Pohlmann in Altenburg ) is a German writer .

Life

Tom Pohlmann grew up in Meuselwitz . He attended a polytechnic high school from 1968 to 1978 and completed an apprenticeship with a high school diploma as a machine and system fitter. After completing his military service, he studied literature , history and education at the University of Halle-Wittenberg from 1983 to 1987 . Shortly before completing his studies, Pohlmann was relegated from the university ; then he earned his living in various activities until 1992, including a. as stoker and caretaker. From 1993 to 1995 he trained as a media designer and worked as an editor in a film studio in Bad Suderode ( Harz ). From 1994 Pohlmann published literary texts, and from 1995 he studied at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig ; he completed this course in 1998 with a diploma . In 1999 he worked as an editor and photographer in Leipzig, in 2001 he helped set up a museum . From 2002 to 2006 he was studying in Paris , Hamburg and Copenhagen . Pohlmann lives in Leipzig today.

Tom Pohlmann is the author of prose texts , essays , poems and radio plays . He also translates from English and from Polish a . a. the lyricist Zbigniew Dmitroca .

Tom Pohlmann is a member of the Association of German Writers and the Leipziger Förderkreis Freie Literaturgesellschaft . He received u. a. 1994 a working scholarship from the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony , 1997 a scholarship from the literature promotion program of the Lower Saxony Foundation and in 2000 the New York scholarship of the Kranichstein Literature Prize awarded by the German Literature Fund for a stay in the " German House " of New York University .
