Kranichsteiner Literature Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kranichsteiner Literature Prize has been awarded under this name by the German Literature Fund Darmstadt since 1983 ; it was named after the Darmstadt district of Kranichstein . Most recently (2019) the literature prize was endowed with 30,000 euros, along with a bronze sculpture by the Darmstadt sculptor Gotthelf Schlotter . From 2020, the prize will be awarded as the Grand Prize of the German Literature Fund, with the endowment being increased to 50,000 euros . The "changes should make it clear that the prize is an important literary event". The award ceremony for 2020 will take place in Berlin for the first time on October 7, 2020.

In addition, the jury annually awards a ten-week New York scholarship, a London scholarship, two youth literature scholarships (12,000 euros each) and the Kranichsteiner Literature Prize for authors under 35 years of age (5000 euros). The expert jury currently includes: Bettina Fischer, Manuela Reichart and Hans Thill .
