Tony Meeker

Tony Meeker (born March 18, 1939 in Oregon ) is an American politician ( Republican Party ).

Career

Not much is known about Tony Meeker. His childhood was overshadowed by the Second World War . He has served in both the House of Representatives and the Oregon Senate . In 1986 he ran in the first congressional constituency of Oregon for the US Congress against the Democrat Les AuCoin . After his loss to him, Meeker was back in the Oregon Senate, where he represented the cities in parts of Yamhill and Marion Counties. The Treasurer of State of Oregon Bill Rutherford in 1987 announced a position in a security company in New York to compete. On July 9, 1987, Oregon Governor Neil Goldschmidt Meeker appointed Oregon Treasurer of State to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Bill Rutherford. In the 1988 election, Meeker was elected for a full term. Meeker ran a second time for a seat in the US Congress in 1992, but suffered a defeat to Elizabeth Furse .
