Tony Steedman

Tony Steedman (born August 21, 1927 - February 4, 2001 ) was a British actor .

Life

Steedman began his career in 1964 with guest appearances on various British television series, including With Umbrella, Charm and Bowler Hat , Department S and Jason King . In 1972 he starred as Detective Inspector Patterson on the soap opera Coronation Street . In 1977 he had a minor supporting role in the Alistair MacLean film adaptation of Rendezvous with Death . Steedman played the role of General Alfred Jodl twice , first in 1973 in an episode of the ITV Saturday Night Theater television series and again in 1980 in the war film The Bunker alongside Anthony Hopkins as Adolf Hitler .

In 1978 he played 46 episodes of the soap opera Crossroads the Dr. Butterworth , in 1982 he starred alongside Michael Palin and Maggie Smith in the comedy film The Missionary . He first took on roles in the United States in the 1980s and guest starred on series such as A Colt Just For Any Occasion and The A-Team . In 1989 he played Socrates in the comedy Bill & Ted's Crazy Journey through Time . He was also in the John Candy comedy Des Wahnsinns fat booty and in the science fiction film Split Second . In 1992, he played in three-part series Special England Show the sitcom Married with Children the mayor Fivshaw .

In 1994 he spoke the role of Justin Hammer in the first season of the animated series The Invincible Iron Man .

Steedman was married to actress Judy Parfitt .

In the last years of his life he suffered from dementia .
