Toyo Masanori Tanaka (born January 19, 1959 in Tokyo , Japan , † late July 2015 in Munich , Germany ) was a Japanese musician , actor , opera director and festival director .

His father is a composer, his mother an opera singer. Graduated from high school, studied psychology and literature at Keiō University , studied acting, dramaturgy and directing at the Tokyo Actor Studio .

His aunt, the famous singer Michiko de Kowa-Tanaka , brought him to Germany to study. Tanaka took acting lessons at the Max Reinhardt School in Berlin and studied singing, piano and composition at the Berlin University of the Arts .
