Traeos is a post-hardcore band from Saarbrücken .

history

Traeos was founded in the Saarland capital Saarbrücken in autumn 2007 and already released the first EP on January 1st, 2008 under the title The Aion Drive . This EP was voted "Demo of the Month" in the June issue of Metal-Hammer magazine and the May issue of Heavy magazine. The EP also received a review in the Ox-Fanzine .

The debut album Mnemosyne , which was released on August 28, 2010 via Ampire Records, also received a review in Ox-Fanzine. It is a concept album and is about Mnemosyne , who is said to have fathered the 9 muses with Zeus . Mnemosyne is sold at EMP and Amazon , among others . Another EP followed on October 1, 2011, The Holy , which the group offers for free download. The third EP is to be called Apollon and will be released on April 4, 2012 on its own.

The group took part in the "Ringrocker Band Contest". The winner of this competition will receive a slot as a newcomer at Rock am Ring . However, the group failed in the second round of the voting and was ranked 28. In an interview in Deafground magazine, the musicians stated that they “consider their chance to play at such a festival realistically”, but also criticized the “fairness and honesty” in the voting processes. In the same interview, the group announced that they were already working on a new album, which is expected to be released in autumn 2013. On June 26, 2012, Traeos played as the opening act for August Burns Red in Saarbrücken . Adept , who should actually support August Burns Red, canceled an appearance in the Saarbrücken garage.

The group has played with groups like Haribo Macht Kinder Froh (September 2011), The Satellite Year (August 2011), Boysetsfire , Caliban , Long Distance Calling , The Parachutes , Filter (Rites of Summer Fest 2011), His Statue Falls , Shake the Pagoda Tree (May 2011), Hopes Die Last (July 2008), Madball , Born from Pain (Antattack Festival 2011), August Burns Red , Norma Jean and Every Time I Die .

style

music

Often the group's music is compared to Underoath . In an interview with Ox-Fanzine , the group mentions that albums like Lost In The Sound Of Separation or Changing Of Times played a major role for the band and are referred to as a "source of inspiration". The group emphasizes, however, that the music style is mixed with other genres.

Texts

In terms of content, the group takes up Greek mythology . The debut album, which was named after Mnemosyne, speaks of the nine muses who were sired by Mnemosyne and Zeus. The debut album is a concept album. Nine songs are about the muses and the tenth song is about Mnemosyne himself. With the help of the attributes of the ancient figures, the group tries to depict the problems of today. The group also derived the title of their debut EP The Aion Drive from Greek. “Aion” therefore stands for “Aeon”, which means infinity.

The name of the new EP also comes from Greek mythology. This is to be called Apollo . The musicians have been dealing with Greek mythology for a long time. The band name “TRÆOS”, which contains the Greek letter sequence “ÆO”, was chosen deliberately. The band name has no deeper meaning, but has a striking meaning according to the band.
