1988 Trans-Am season
The 1988 Trans-Am season was a racing season of the US Trans-Am series , in which wide and large-engined GT racing cars were driven. The championship was won by Hurley Haywood in an Audi 200 quattro .

The list of participants is only a selection of the drivers who actually competed. The starting fields were very large with over 30 vehicles. Driver changes were allowed during the races, but were rarely used. Since the regulations of the Trans-Am series were very open, there were many different vehicle models at the start. Different engine concepts and drive concepts were allowed to be used. There was competition among tire manufacturers between Goodyear , Firestone and Hoosier .
