Traugott Roser
Traugott Roser (born August 21, 1964 in Pappenheim ) is a German Protestant theologian , pastor and university professor . He led - together with Thomas Hagen - the project “Pastoral Care in Palliative Medicine” at the Interdisciplinary Center for Palliative Medicine of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and was Professor of Spiritual Care there (together with Eckhard Frick ). Since March 1, 2013, he has been Professor for practical theology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster.
Life
After studying theology in Erlangen , Munich and at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg , Pa. (USA), where he obtained a Master of Arts degree in Religion (MAR), Traugott Roser worked as a vicar in Dorfen in Upper Bavaria. He did his doctorate with Trutz Rendtorff in Munich, where he also worked as an assistant.
He then worked for three years as a parish priest in Munich, as a research assistant to Michael Schibilsky and part-time as head of the coordination office for medical ethics of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria until 2004.
Then, together with Thomas Hagen, he headed the “Pastoral Care Project in Palliative Medicine” at the Interdisciplinary Center for Palliative Medicine at the University Hospital of the LMU Munich. As part of this activity, in addition to pastoral care at the clinic, he also trained medical students.
He was a visiting scholar at the Center for Clinical Bioethics at Georgetown University (USA), in 2008 he worked for a sabbatical year in the Department of Palliative Care at McGill University in Montreal , Canada.
In 2010, Roser and Eckhard Frick were each appointed to the newly created endowed professorship for Spiritual Care with 50 percent . This professorship, limited to five years, was dedicated to the spiritual component of palliative care , i.e. the existential and spiritual questions in the support of critically ill and dying patients and their families, as well as those of the medical and nursing staff. It was approved as the first of its kind in Germany at the LMU by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft (Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft) and was set up at the Medical Faculty in cooperation with the Evangelical Theological and Catholic Theological Faculties. After Roser's move to the University of Münster in 2013, half of his position was filled with Niels Christian Hvidt.
In addition, from 2010 to 2013 Roser worked in the Augustinum Munich- Neufriedenheim as a pastor and as a representative for the implementation of palliative care at the residential monasteries of the Augustinum group.
Since March 1, 2013, he has been Professor of Practical Theology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster, and since July 3, he has also been a university preacher there.
