Trevor Jones
Trevor Alfred Charles Jones (born March 23, 1949 in Cape Town , South Africa ) is a South African film composer .
biography
Growing up in an artistic family, Jones wanted to be a film composer at the age of five. From 1967 he attended the Royal Academy of Music in London on a scholarship and then worked for the BBC as a film and television music reviewer for five years . From 1974 Jones attended the University of York , which he graduated with a master's degree in film and media music. He then attended the National Film and Television School and studied the basics of filmmaking as well as film and sound techniques for three years. During this time he created the background music for 22 student projects. In 1981, Jones created the score for the Oscar- winning short film The Dollar Bottom and the short film The Black Angel.
One of the first successes for the big screen was Jones music for the Jim Henson film The Dark Crystal ( The Dark Crystal , 1982), in which he so unusual instruments like a flageolet and a Okema began. Jones also wrote the music for Henson's follow-up film The Journey into the Labyrinth and was supported on the vocals by pop star David Bowie , who wrote the hit Underground for it . Jones is also a successful arranger of other composers, for example for the titles in the film Brassed Off - With Timpani and Trumpets .
