history

The forest hoof village Trieb was first mentioned on March 13, 1414 as "zcu der Triwe". The grinding and cutting mill mentioned in 1464 is the oldest building in town today. A replica mill wheel on the village square, which was reconstructed in 2001, is a reminder of Trieb's mill history. The main line of business in Trieb has always been agriculture, but the occupational groups of stonecutters, pitchers and, from the 18th century, weavers and embroiderers were also important.

Trieb has always been part of the parish of Bergen , to which Schönau also belongs in addition to Trieb and Bergen. Regarding the manorial rule, around 1583 part belonged to the Falkenstein manor , the other part was Amtsdorf in the Plauen office . Around 1764, the manorial power over Trieb was divided among the manors Bergen, Oberlauterbach , Ellefeld , Mühlberg and Dorfstadt . Until 1856 Trieb belonged to the Electoral Saxon or later Royal Saxon Office of Plauen. In 1856 Trieb was affiliated to the Falkenstein court office and in 1875 to the Auerbach administration .

On January 1, 1950, the community of Schönau with its district Siebenhitz was moved to Trieb / Vogtl. incorporated. Trieb / Vogtl came through the second district reform in the GDR . in 1952 to the district of Auerbach in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued in 1990 as the Saxon district of Auerbach and was merged into the Vogtland district in 1996. On January 1, 1999, the municipality of Trieb / Vogtl, with its districts of Schönau and Siebenhitz, was incorporated into Falkenstein.
