Geographical location and traffic

Village town lies in the Treba valley north of Falkenstein / Vogtl. The place is in the center of the Vogtlandkreis and in the Saxon part of the historical Vogtland . Dorfstadt is geographically located in the east of the Vogtland natural area . The corridor of Dorfstadt is limited in the east by the Herlasgrün – Oelsnitz railway line . In the south, the corridor extends almost to the Falkenstein (Vogtl) train station . The S 298 runs through Dorfstadt .

Dorfstadt was mentioned in 1460 under the name "Dorffstat" or "Dorffstad". The manorial rule over the place was around 1583 with the manors Falkenstein and Auerbach lower part . In 1764 the manor was even divided among the seven manors Auerbach lower part, Falkenstein upper part and Mühlberg, Oberlauterbach , Sorga , Rützengrün , and Dorfstadt. The manor house in Dorfstadt was probably built on the foundation walls of a previous building. In 1535 a Vorwerk was mentioned, which according to various sources was first mentioned as a manor in 1591 or 1606. It had been in the possession of the von Trützschler family since 1710 . In the 18th century the farm buildings were built and at about the same time the manor house was redesigned with the addition of a second floor. In terms of church, Dorfstadt has always been parish to Falkenstein.

Until 1856, the village town belonged to the Electoral Saxon or later royal Saxon office of Plauen . In 1856 Dorfstadt was incorporated into the Falkenstein court office and in 1875 the Auerbach administration . In 1904 Dorfstadt received a school. The von Trützschler family owned the Dorfstadt manor until it was expropriated as part of the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone from 1945 .

On January 1, 1950, the municipality of Dorfstadt was incorporated into Falkenstein. Through the second district reform in the GDR , Dorfstadt came to be part of the city of Falkenstein / Vogtl. in 1952 to the district of Auerbach in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued in 1990 as the Saxon district of Auerbach and was merged into the Vogtland district in 1996. The school in Dorfstadt has been run as a primary school since 1994. From the night sanatorium built in 1952 for Wismutkumpel and later the government sanatorium in Dorfstadt, a professional association clinic for occupational diseases was created after 1990 . The BG Clinic for Occupational Diseases Falkenstein is one of the largest employers in the city of Falkenstein.
