Tuplice ( German  Teuplitz , Upper Sorbian Wjelike Tuplice ) is a village in the powiat Żarski of the Lubusz Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the rural community of the same name with around 3150 inhabitants. The place with around 1500 inhabitants is about 12 kilometers southeast of Forst . Most of the municipality belongs to the Polish part of Niederlausitz .

history

Until 1945 Teuplitz belonged to the Brandenburg district of Sorau . In 1933 the community had 1,381 inhabitants, the number of which rose to 1,409 by 1939. In 1945 the place was partially destroyed. Since 1815 Teuplitz belonged to Prussia . A glassworks and a brickworks were built. The Cottbus - Sorau and Muskau - Sommerfeld railway lines made the town an important rail hub in Lower Lusatia.

After the takeover by the Polish administration, the place lost its importance.
