Tower Hill Höhenberg

The tower hill Höhenberg is a defunct late medieval hill castle which belongs to the type of tower hill castle (moth). It is located in a wooded area 500 meters northeast of Höhenberg , a district of the Dietersburg community in the Rottal-Inn district in Bavaria .

description

The former tower hill castle is located on a narrow, slightly sloping north-west facing spur that is located in the gusset of two small streams.

According to older information, the tower hill once had a height of 15 meters, as a result of gravel mining in the center of the hill, its height was greatly reduced and otherwise the system is severely disturbed by the mining. Today the hill is only preserved as a ring wall-like remnant, on its northwest side there is an interruption, the access to the mining site. The remainder of the hill is still two meters above its base in the center, the remainder left standing on the outside of the hill reaches a height of five meters and drops very steeply inwards. The diameter of the plant is about 80 meters. A ditch is no longer recognizable today, but is said to have existed earlier.

Medieval ceramic shards and fragments of roof tiles appear on the surface of the remains of the hill.

To the south-east of the tower hill there was an associated farm yard, some of which still exists today.

The tower hill is roughly dated to the late Middle Ages.

The place is now protected as a ground monument number D-2-7543-0006: Tower hill of the late Middle Ages and the early modern times with partially abandoned farm yard ("Höhenberg Seat") .
