Malling Castle after an engraving by Michael Wening from 1721

The expired Malling Castle (formerly also known as Meylling ) was located in the district of the same name in the Lower Bavarian municipality of Gangkofen in the Rottal-Inn district of Bavaria .

history

On May 26, 1316 Conrad Trennbeck von Meylingen and his son Heinrich are named. On March 3, 1323 a chunrat sealed the Drenbech of Meiling . Malling (like Schernegg ) came to Eberwein Atzinger by inheritance in 1416 . A loan from the Bavarian duke to the Atzingers took place in 1493. The Atzingers remained lords on Malling until 1602. The ownership structure then follows that of Hofmark Atzing .

In 1602 Hedwig received Hannin , the widow of Wilhelm Atzinger and was married to Christoph Pelkofer for the second time , and their children from their first marriage were Malling and Atzing. After Hedwig's death, both fiefs came to Rudolf and Christoph Atzinger in 1621 . A feudal lapel was dated May 7, 1729, according to which Maria Ephrosina , daughter of Martin Isaac Atzinger and widowed Schneggin, received the two fiefs. After the death of Anton Joseph Schnegg , who remained unmarried , the two knights' fiefs fell to the Electorate of Bavaria .

Josef Ignaz von Erdt is subsequently given both seats in 1763 for his services as administrator of the imperial rule of Haag and Illertissen . However, it was overlooked that there were still inheritance claims from a sideline of the Atzingers. The children of Maria Charlotte Daddaz de Corsigne , daughter of Franz Karl Nikolaus Freiherr von Atzing , were not considered. Therefore the reversal of Atzing and Malling and the investiture of the Erdt family are reversed and the Atzingen grandsons Josef, Cajetan and Antonia Daddaz de Corsigne are placed in Atzing and Malling.

Further owners are from 1789 the Baron Johann Gabriel von Buchetten and from 1796 Josef Maria Reichs Freiherr von Weichs . In 1814 these goods were sold to Count Portia . The Portian Patrimonial Court of Malling contained the court brands Atzing, Malling and Schernegg. The patrimonial court was dissolved on January 9, 1844.

The seat of Malling belongs to the Eggenfelden court in 1803, the associated tax district was Malling from 1808/1810. Malling was an independent community until 1964. On January 1, 1972, the previously independent community of Malling was incorporated into Gangkofen.

Malling Castle then and now

According to the engraving by Michael Wening from 1721, Malling Castle comprises a two-storey manor house with a front and rear facade with small turrets and several farm buildings built in a rectangle - the former Sedel . This is a half-timbered building made of clay and wood and not a stone structure. The whole complex is enclosed by a moat.

Malling Castle was first destroyed by fire before 1697, but was then rebuilt. Today, however, the castle no longer exists.
