The Lower Arnstorf Castle is located in the Lower Bavarian market of Arnstorf in the Rottal-Inn district of Bavaria at the northern end of the market square (Marktplatz 1).

history

In the description of the Eggenfelden district court, the Closen zu Gern and the Closen zu Arnstorf have always been clearly distinguished. In 1642, however, a Christoph Heinrich Freiherr von Closen zu Arnstorf appears in the lower castle as the owner and owner of the Arnstorf and Jägerndorf court brands and the Hainberg headquarters. Since another Hans Georg von Closen zu Gern appears in Arnstorf at the same time , the division into an upper and a lower castle must fall during this time.

The Hofmark Arnstorf belonged to the Closens, but since the market belonged to the Eggenfelden, Reichenberg and Landau courts, problems arose again and again because of the jurisdiction in the event that maleficants were extradited . In the course of the establishment of patrimonial courts in Arnstorf, a second class patrimonial court was approved for Countess Königsfeld, which passed to her son-in-law Count Deym after her death († 1847) . In 1848 the patrimonial court was dissolved.

Lower Arnstorf Castle then and now

As the view by Michael Wening from 1721 shows, the Lower Palace was already completely built at this time. The baroque building was renovated and is now owned by the Arnstorf market. In the building there are public facilities and business premises.

The castle is a two-storey building with sloping corner towers that are covered with tent roofs. On one side there is a high gable roof in the eaves side front and subsequently there are arcades on the ground floor.
