The Postal Limmelburg , as a dish called, is an Outbound high - or Late medieval hilltop castle about 900 meters west of Strasbourg , in the municipality of Wurmannsquick in the district of Rottal-Inn in Bavaria .

description

The Limmelburg, a type of complex that can be counted as one of the ground-level mansions , is located on a protrusion sloping to the west in the Demmelhuber Holz forest at 470  m above sea level. NN . From the oval fortification there is only a ring wall , the inner surface of which has an east-west extension of twelve and a north-south extension of eight meters, and a ring moat . The ring wall without interruption still reaches a height of 1.5 meters. The bottom of the trench is three meters lower than the crest of the wall, the outer slope rises up to two meters on the east side of the facility. The moat is not interrupted either.

There is no historical information about this fortification, it is roughly dated to the High or Late Middle Ages. Smaller excavations were carried out inside the ring wall and at the north-western wall crown, as the pits that were created show. It is not known whether finds were made at the time.

The place is protected as ground monument number D-2-7642-0017: Castle stable of the high or late Middle Ages ("Schüssel" or "Limmelburg") .
