Turowo (German Steinau ; Kashubian Tùrowò ) is a village in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship and belongs to the urban and rural community Miastko ( Rummelsburg ) in the Bytowski powiat ( Bütow district ).

Geographical location

Turowo is located in the Pojezierze Bytowski ( Bütow Lake District ) between the former district town of Miastko and the current district metropolis of Bytów ( Bütow ). A side road leads from Role ( Grünwalde ) to Kramarzyny ( Kremerbruch ), which is directly on the Polish state road 20 (former German Reichsstraße 158 Berlin - Lauenburg in Pomerania ), which runs from Stargard ( Stargard in Pomerania ) to Gdynia ( Gdynia ).

Between 1909 and 1945, the place previously called Steinau had a connection to the Bütow – Rummelsburg (Bytów – Miastko) railway via the Kremerbruch station (now in Polish: Kramarzyny) six kilometers away .

Place name

The name Steinau is a common and multiple place name in Germany, no less than the name Turowo in Poland.

history

Steinau was laid out after 1843 as the Vorwerk of the community Grünwalde (today Polish: Role) and remained a place within the community Grünwalde- Saaben (Role-Żabno) until 1945 . In 1905 the place was divided into 15 pension settlements.

Until the end of the Second World War the village belonged to the Rummelsburg i. Pom. (Miastko) in the administrative district of Köslin (Koszalin) in the Prussian province of Pomerania .

After 1945, the now called Turowo village came to Poland and became part of the Gmina Miastko within the Powiat Bytowski in the Pomeranian Voivodeship (1975-1998 Slupsk Voivodeship ). A little over a hundred residents now live here.

The predominantly Protestant inhabitants of Steinau until 1945 belong to one of a total of twelve places that were parish in the parish of Waldow (now in Polish: Wałdowo). It belonged to the church district Rummelsburg (Miastko) in the eastern district of the church province of Pomerania of the church of the Old Prussian Union .

Since 1945 the population of Turowo has been predominantly Catholic . The village now belongs to the parish Wałdowo ( Waldow ), which is incorporated into the parish Piaszczyna ( pure water ). It is located in the Miastko deanery in the Köslin-Kolberg diocese of the Catholic Church in Poland .

Evangelical church members living here are assigned to the Kreuzkirche parish in Słupsk ( Stolp ), whose next branch church village Wołcza Wielka ( Groß Volz ) is located southwest of Miastko . It is part of the Pomerania-Greater Poland diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
