Tyler Smith (musician)
Tyler Smith , better known as Telle Smith (born August 9, 1986 in Dayton / Ohio ) is an American musician . He is the singer on The Word Alive . Smith previously played with Greeley Estates and In Fear and Faith .
He has also been a guest musician with We Are Defiance , Danger Silent , his former band In Fear and Faith, Tonight Is Glory and We Came as Romans .

Tyler has three younger brothers. Between 1992 and 2005 he attended the Spring Valley Academy in Centerville . He didn't learn to play the guitar until he was 17. Three years later he took singing lessons.
He lists Brand New and Sigur Rós as his musical influences . His favorite bands include 30 Seconds to Mars , As Cities Burn , Thursday , As I Lay Dying , August Burns Red , Circa Survive and City and Color . He is a staunch Christian .
In May 2007, he moved from Ohio to California . In January 2009 he changed his place of residence again. He moved from Oceanside , California to Phoenix , Arizona with Chris Vaughn from Danger Silent . Since March 2011 he has been living in California again. He lives in Hollywood .
Smith has Irish and Dutch roots.
Music career
In Fear and Faith
Smith's first band he played in was called In Fear and Faith . From May 2007 to January 2008 he was one of two singers in the band and recorded the album Voyages with her , which was self-distributed in 2007.
Greeley Estates
In January 2008 Telle Smith changed the band for the first time. He became the bassist for Greeley Estates , a post-hardcore band from Phoenix , Arizona . However, he only stayed there until November of the same year. He recorded the album Go West Young Man, Let the Evil Go East with the band , which was released through Science Records. One day after leaving, the band toured with Alesana .
The Word Alive
Smith then took over at The Word Alive as the vocalist from Craig Mabbitt , who formed the band as a side project to Escape the Fate . Mabbitt had to leave the band because he could not go on tour with her. Smith was officially introduced as the new lead singer on The Word Alive on December 3, 2008.
He recorded the debut EP Empire with the band . In 2009 he confirmed that he would write the songs for the debut album Deceiver . The album was released on August 31, 2010 and reached number 97 on the US charts.
When The Word Alive toured with Underoath in November 2010 , Smith took the place of Underoath singer Spencer Chamberlain , who suffered food poisoning in the last week of the tour, at a concert in Mission / Texas .
On January 24, 2011, Smith contracted several infectious diseases, including bronchitis , laryngitis, and pharyngitis . He also had a severe fever . While Smith was in hospital, the band toured with Texas In July and For Today . He missed 9 concerts on the tour due to his stay in hospital.
