Ugnius Čižas (born August 31, 1995 in Elektrėnai ) is a Lithuanian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Sparta Warriors in the Norwegian GET leagues since the beginning of 2018 .

Player career

Ugnius Čižas began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of SC Energija in his hometown Elektrėnai . From 2010 to 2012 he played for Vanvita Vilnius , but was also used by his home club SC Energija in the Latvian league in the 2011/12 season . He then played for two years in the youth teams of the Finnish Vaasan Sport before he returned to Lithuania and has been on the ice since 2014 for Žalgiris Vilnius in the Russian-influenced youth division Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga B. From 2015 to 2016 he played again for his home club Energija Elektrėnai, for which he was now on the ice in the Vysschaya League , the second highest Belarusian league. He then moved to the British Isles and joined the Hull Pirates from the English Premier Ice Hockey League , the second highest British division. In 2017 he first switched to IK Comet from Halden , for whom he played in the second-rate Norwegian 1st divisjon . At the beginning of 2018 he moved to the Sparta Warriors in the GET-ligaen , the highest Norwegian league.

International

In the junior division, Čižas was on the ice for Lithuania at the U18 World Championships in 2011 , 2012 and 2013 as well as the U20 World Championships in 2012 , 2013 , 2014 and 2015 in Division II.

He made his debut in the men's national team at the 2015 World Cup in Division I, where he also played in 2016 , 2017 and 2018 . He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 and in the Baltic Cup in 2016 and 2017.
