Ulf Küster

Ulf Küster (* 1966 in Stuttgart ) is a German art historian and curator .

Life

Küster studied art history, modern history and classical archeology in Freiburg im Breisgau, Berlin and London. In 1996 he did his doctorate in Freiburg in Breisgau on the young Adolf Menzel . From 1997 to 1999 he was an assistant at the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig, where he worked on exhibition projects on classical modernism and 19th century art, and as curator of the exhibitions " Neo Rauch " (1997) and " Jörg Herold " (1999 ) organized. From 1999 to 2004 he worked as a freelance art historian and exhibition curator.

Since 2004 he has been a curator at the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen near Basel. Since 2005 he has been teaching at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg / Breisgau. In January 2014, Küster was a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies of the Visual Art (CASVA) at the National Gallery in Washington, DC.
