Ulrich Gadient

Ulrich Gadient (born July 24, 1931 in Chur ; † October 2, 2016 there ; entitled to live in Trimmis ) was a Swiss politician ( Democratic Party of Graubünden ).

biography

Ulrich Gadient was the son of the Swiss politician Andreas Gadient . After attending the Cantonal School in Chur , he studied law and economics in Lausanne , Bern , St. Gallen and Zurich from 1952 to 1958 . After further training he worked in banking before settling in Chur as a lawyer and notary in 1963 .

From 1967 to 1971 he was President of the Democratic Party of Graubünden (today's Swiss People's Party ). In 1967 he was also elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Graubünden and presided over it in the 1970/80 office year. He was elected to the National Council on November 26, 1979, but only had a seat there until February 10, 1980. On March 3, 1980 he was elected to the Council of States and did not leave the small chamber until December 16, 1994. In the meantime (1981) he had given up his seat on the Grand Council.

Gadient held several board memberships, such as at PTT from 1990 to 1996, or at Mobiliar . He was also a co-founder of the Association for Bündner Kulturforschung, as well as its president until 1995, and co-initiator, as well as president from 1995 to 2000, Wirtschaftsforum Graubünden.

In the Swiss Army he was a colonel in a tank regiment .

Just as his father Andreas performed political functions (including in the National Council), Ulrich's daughter Brigitta Gadient also became a politician and national councilor.
