Ulrich Zachert

Ulrich Zachert (born February 1, 1943 in Berlin ; † September 9, 2009 near Cuxhaven ) was a German lawyer and professor of labor law at the Faculty of Social Economics at the University of Hamburg , formerly the Hamburg University of Economics and Politics .

Life

After graduating from high school , Ulrich Zachert first studied English and German in Berlin and then until 1967 law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . After the first state examination he was from 1967 to 1968 Fellow of the DAAD in Grenoble . In 1969 he received his doctorate with the work of strict liability and liability of suspected fault in the German and French law to Dr. jur. After the second state examination in law, in 1972 he took over the deputy head of the legal department of the main administration of the food-gourmet restaurant in Hamburg . In 1973 he became a legal advisor at the Hans Böckler Society in Düsseldorf . From 1974 to 1981 Zachert was a consultant for labor and business law at the Economic and Social Science Institute of the DGB in Düsseldorf. From 1981 until his retirement in 2008 he was Professor of Labor Law at the Hamburg University of Economics and Politics , and since 2005 in the Department of Social Economics at the University of Hamburg .

Ulrich Zachert was visiting professor at several foreign universities, including Saint-Étienne (1987), Montpellier (1992), Castilla-La Mancha (1992), Ferrara (1993) and Trento (1994 and 2006). Since the early 1980s he was an honorary judge appointed by IG Metall at the Federal Labor Court and employee representative on the supervisory board of Thyssen- Henrichshütte . He was a member of the SPD and lived in Apensen .

He died in 2009 under tragic circumstances in the Wadden Sea near Cuxhaven.

Zachert published numerous writings on freedom of association , to collective bargaining , the company co-determination , to co-determination and to social science analysis and international comparison of labor law. In 2010 the Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft published a memorial for Ulrich Zachert in which his life's work was honored.
