This article presents Austria's successes at Universiaden from 2005 to 2013 as well as the medal table from 1959 to 2013.

The “Universiade-Team Austria” is nominated by “Unisport Austria”, based in the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy, and sent to the Universiades.

Winter Universiade 2005 Innsbruck / Seefeld: At Austria's “Home Universiade”, top Austrian student athletes won a total of 21 medals (10 gold, 9 silver and 2 bronze medals), leading them to the medal ranking. The most successful athletes with three medals each were the alpine skiing racer Dominik Schweiger (2 × gold and 1 × silver) and the ski jumper Manuel Fettner (2 × gold and 1 × bronze).

Summer Universiade 2005 Izmir: In Izmir, Christoph Marik won a gold medal in epee fencing. Markus Rogan only achieved a bronze medal in the 200 meter freestyle discipline . In the medal ranking, Austria only made it to 35th place.

Winter Universiade 2007 Turin: Four gold medals were won by top Austrian student athletes, two gold medals were won by Anna Rokita in speed skating over 3000 and 5000 meters with excellent athletic performance. She set a new Austrian record over the 5000 meters with a time of 7: 14.72 minutes. The Austrian team ski jumping with Florian Liegl , Bastian Kaltenböck and Manuel Fettner won another gold medal . The fourth gold medal was finally won by Daniela Iraschko in the women's ski jumping event. In the overall medal ranking, Austria ranks 7th.

Summer Universiade 2007 Bangkok: 3 × gold, 2 × silver, 3 × bronze - a top result for Austria (for summer sports). Markus Rogan swam a gold medal in the 200 m back and a silver medal in the 100 m back competition. Fabienne Nadarajah also won gold in the 50-meter butterfly, as did the athlete Gerhard Mayer in the men's discus throw. The shooter Regina Time won a silver medal. Jördis Steinegger swam to 3rd place 400 m freestyle , Mirna Jukic also won a bronze medal in the 200 m chest competition. Judoker Hilde Drexler also managed to get a bronze for Austria. A total of 10 new Austrian swimming records were set by Austrian swimmers at this Universiade! In the overall medal classification, Austria made it to a good 18th place.

Winter Universiade 2009 Harbin: With four gold, three silver and two bronze medals, the Austrian team took sixth place in the national ranking.

Summer Universiade 2009 Belgrade: Clemens Zeller was able to win a silver medal (athletics, 400 m run).

Winter Universiade 2011 Erzurum: Bernhard Graf was able to win 2 gold medals (super combination, giant slalom) and one bronze medal (parallel giant slalom) in the alpine skiing competition and reached 7th place in the FIS combined ranking (after he had not competed in the slalom) . Sebastian Kislinger won a silver medal in the snowboard parallel giant slalom. With these 4 medals Austria came 13th in the overall medal ranking.

Summer Universiade 2011 Shenzhen: The shooter Lisa Ungerank won silver in the 10 m air rifle competition. Jördis Steinegger took bronze in swimming over 400 m individual medley.

Summer Universiade 2013 Kazan: The rowing duo Bernhard Sieber and Paul Sieber won 2 × gold in the LM. Kathrin Unterwurzacher won bronze in women's judo up to 63 kg. The athletes Elisabeth Eberl in the javelin throw and Andreas Vojta over 800 meters also secured bronze .

Winter Universiade 2013 Trentino: 3 × gold, 2 × silver and 1 × bronze for Austria. Gold medal winners: Hanno Douschan in Snowboard Cross, Julia Dujmovits in Snowboard PGS, Sebastian Kislinger in Snowboard PGS. Silver won: Sabine Schöffmann in the snowboard PGS and Michelle Morik in the giant slalom. The ski jumping team achieved bronze on the normal hill: Daniel Huber , Clemens Aigner and David Unterberger .
