action

Professor Habakuk Tibatong had to flee from his home in Pumpolonien years ago with his domestic pig Wutz, whom he taught to speak, and the orphan boy Tim Inkblot, because of allegations against his theory of the primeval dinosaur Urmel . On the South Sea island of Titiwu , he also teaches the shoebill Schusch, the Waran Wawa, the penguin Ping and the elephant seal to speak, but they all develop a speech impediment. One day an iceberg runs aground and Ping finds an egg on it. They all incubate it together, whereupon a primrose hatches. Pig becomes the foster mother of Urmel and Tibatong sends his scientific rival Zwengelmann a letter. This shows him to the deposed king of Pumpolonien, Pumponell, who is a big game hunter. He decides to hunt the Urmel. When he arrives at Titiwu, he is given a pleasant welcome and the Urmel is kept secret. Pumponell sees it anyway and the Urmel has to flee. On the way it meets Wawa, who hides it in a cave. Urmel finds a giant crab there . Pumponell and his servant Sami find Urmel there. At the sight of the giant crab, Pumponell shoots and the entrance to the cave is filled in. In the cave, Pumponell and Urmel become friends. However, the cave turns out to be a volcano . That's why the others use Pig's slumber barrel as a submarine to save everyone. Pumponell returns to Pumpolonien with a bucket full of water, the invisible fish .

background

The film was produced by Ambient Entertainment . In the beginning, they wanted to keep the film in a simple style. However, the animators wanted to see what the penguin Ping would look like with plumage. When they decided on the penguin with plumage, the other people and animals also had to be given a corresponding level of detail. Later Klooss and Tappe also did a similar conference of the animals .

Reviews

“After books, TV trick series, musicals and the legendary Augsburger Puppenkiste sold millions of times, Urmel is now conquering the big screen. Since the author Max Kruse brought Urmel to life at the end of the 1960s, the little dinosaur has become a cult. Now the 85-year-old Kruse is experiencing how Urmel and his friends can also become movie stars using high-quality computer technology. An experience for young and old! German comedy stars such as Anke Engelke, Christoph Maria Herbst, Wigald Boning and Oliver Pocher took over the voices of the iconic Urmel crew. "

“Given the boom that cartoons have been experiencing for a number of years, it is no wonder that Max Kruse's“ Urmel aus dem Eis ”is now making it to the big screen. However, the film adaptation stands out in a pleasant way from many productions. While other films often try to ingratiate themselves with young and old alike, the implementation of the Urmel story focuses entirely on its target group of under six year olds. Compared to Ice Age 2, which in its brutality almost comes close to the most award-winning animation series "Tom & Jerry" and whose humor is largely fed by glee, with "Urmel aus dem Eis" a film finally comes to the cinema that is child-friendly Entertainment supplies. Sure, many parents may get a little bored because Tappe's film never becomes lewd or ambiguously flirted with adult humor - but they can be sure that they are going to a film that doesn't get the joke from how someone is tortured. hurts or is harmed in any other way. “Urmel aus dem Eis”, on the other hand, is about friendship, loyalty and trust and also offers many examples of conflicts that young people experience. The nice thing is that despite its ostensible simplicity, the film never falls into a simple black and white pattern. Here the people are never evil in themselves, only their actions. Even the “evil” King Pumponell is allowed to change his mind at the end and befriend Urmel. The film certainly has its weaknesses: The characters could be more profiled and sometimes their behavior is not entirely understandable. Visually, “Urmel aus dem Eis” looks neat, but cannot compete with more expensive productions. It is also unpleasant that the script has a few blunders, as if there were some threads of the plot that get lost in nowhere. But despite all its weaknesses, the film comes across as very personable. His heart is in the right place and one for his characters too; Pedagogically, he moves on a high level without being too intrusive in his messages. You can tell from the makers of the film that they want to do something good for children. As a children's film for the very young people, "Urmel aus dem Eis" is warmly recommended. "
