Ursula Funke

Ursula Funke (born January 9, 1939 in Danzig ; † July 17, 2020 ) was a German economist , university professor and politician .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Funke first studied languages ​​at the universities of Mainz , London and Paris . She then began studying economics at the universities of Saarbrücken and Mainz , which she completed with a doctorate. She worked as a lecturer in the United States for eight years , completed her habilitation and, in 1976, was given a professorship in business administration at the Mainz II University of Applied Sciences , which she held until 2004. She then taught public management with a focus on city marketing and business development at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, which is now the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences .

Public offices

On June 21, 1990, Funke was appointed to succeed Ursula Hansen as Minister for Social Affairs, Family and Sport in the government of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate led by Prime Minister Carl-Ludwig Wagner . After the CDU was defeated in the state elections in 1991, it left the government on May 21, 1991.
