Uwe Heidschötter (* 1978 in Leverkusen ) is a German illustrator , animator , film director and comic author .

Career

Heidschötter studied at the Cologne School of Design and at the Lycée Technique des Arts et Métiers in Luxembourg the subjects Design and Animation . He then worked for the film production company Ambient Entertainment , where he worked on the films Back to Gaya (2004), Urmel aus dem Eis (2006), Urmel voll in Fahrt (2008) and Conference of the Animals (2010).

Heidschötter's first directorial work was, together with Johannes Weiland , the short film Der Kleine und das Best , which won the Crystal of the Festival d'Animation Annecy , the Prix ​​Jeunesse , the Cartoon d'Or 2011 and the children's feature film award Emil awarded by the television magazine TV Spielfilm . In addition to his work in film , Uwe Heidschötter illustrated Marcus Sauermann 's children's books The Little and the Beast , which is based on the film of the same name, for which Sauermann wrote the screenplay, as well as The Princess, the Cow and the Garden . Together with author Patrick Wirbeleit , he developed the children's comic series Kiste, which is published by Reprodukt- Verlag. In 2016, the two of them were awarded the Max and Moritz Prize in the category of best comic for children during the 17th Erlangen Comic Salon .
