Václav (German Wenzelsdorf ) is a deserted area on the cadastre of the district Pleš of Bělá nad Radbuzou in Okres Domažlice in West Bohemia in the Czech Republic .
geography
Václav was about two kilometers southeast of Pleš on the slope of the 844 meter high Malý Zvon ( Glöckelberg ).
history
Wenzelsdorf was founded in 1780. It owes its name to Baron Wenzel Kotz von Dobrz in Heiligenkreuz . In 1839 the place had 28 houses and 321 inhabitants. Rappauf and Straßhütte were included in Wenzelsdorf. Together with these localities, Wenzelsdorf had 624 inhabitants in 1945. On the northern edge of the village there was a chapel dedicated to St. Nepomuk and on the eastern edge of the village there was a forestry with a tree nursery. There was also a general store, a grocery store, a baker, a butcher, a shoemaker, a tobacco shop, a tailor, a cooper and three inns in Wenzelsdorf. Wenzelsdorf had a two-class school in which up to 80 children were taught. It was a branch of the elementary school in Plöss. Today (2013) in Wenzelsdorf, in addition to overgrown foundations of the houses, the abandoned buildings of the former border guard can be seen.
