Ocna Sibiului (old Vizocna ; German  Salzburg , Transylvanian-Saxon Salzbrich , Hungarian Vízakna ) is a small town in the Sibiu district in Transylvania ( Romania ).

Geographical location

The small town of Ocna Sibiului - a health resort surrounded by extensive meadows and oak forests - is located in the Transylvanian Basin on the upper reaches of the Vișa ( Weißbach ) in the southeast of the Zekesch highlands ( Podișul Secașelor ). In the east of the Sibiu County, the place is on the county road ( Drum județean ) DJ 106B and the Sibiu-Copșa Mică railway, about 13 km northwest of the Sibiu motorway ring of the Romanian A1 . The Sibiu airport of the regional capital ( Sibiu ) is located 18 kilometers southeast about Ocna Sibiului removed.

history

The settlement was first mentioned in a document in 1263. The settlement of the place goes back much further.
