Vahur Tasane (born February 6, 1983 in Tallinn ) is a former Estonian Nordic combined athlete who was also active in ski jumping.
Career
In the summer of 2000, Tasane won the Estonian Ski Jumping Championships in Otepää with the team . In February 2001 he started at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2001 in Lahti as a combined athlete for his first international competition. With rank 54 in the Gundersen singles and rank 53 in the sprint, he lagged far behind the top places. In the individual he was 57th and penultimate place after jumping and could only leave the Ukrainian Serhij Djachuk behind.
For the 2001/02 season Tasane started for the first time in the B-World Cup Nordic Combined. However, he could not prevail in Vuokatti , Taivalkoski or Mobakken and only landed on the back of the ranks, whereupon he left the squad again. In January 2002 he started at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2002 in Schonach in the Black Forest . In the individual competition he landed on rank 29. In January 2003 Tasane returned in Štrbské Pleso back in the B national team. As 37th, however, he again missed the points. He ran even closer to the points in Zakopane and Harrachov with places 33 and 31.
In February 2003 Tasane started at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2003 in Sollefteå . In the individual competition he reached a good 15th place before he finished 23rd in the sprint. Then he got a good two weeks later a starting place at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2003 in the Italian Val di Fiemme . But Tasane only finished 42nd in the Gundersen Individual on the normal hill. At the end of the season in March 2003 he won his first points in the B World Cup in Trondheim .
After he won his second Estonian championship title in ski jumping with the team in the summer, he started shortly afterwards at the Combined Summer Grand Prix. Neither in Villach nor in Steinbach-Hallenberg did he reach the points. At the beginning of the following 2003/04 season , Tasane made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup . As the 44th, he missed the World Cup points in Kuusamo . Back in the B squad, he didn't get any points in the B World Cup until the end of the season. Despite this failure, he came back to a World Cup appearance in Liberec in February , but failed again just as 34th in the points. On March 6, 2004, Tasane started in Lahti for the first time at a World Cup in ski jumping and in combination. In the combination he could not prevail again. With the team he reached ninth place in the ski jumping team world cup.
At the Estonian Summer Championships 2004 he won the team the silver medal in the team competition.
In January 2005 Tasane started again in Pragelato for a final B-World Cup competition. After he could not place himself in the top of the field again, he finally ended his active career at the end of the 2004/05 season.
Today Tasane worked for the ski manufacturer A&T Sport .
