Valter Dario Maggi (born August 12, 1956 in Brignano Gera d'Adda , Bergamo province , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Ibarra .

Life

Valter Dario Maggi studied philosophy and theology in Bergamo and was ordained a priest on June 15, 1985 . In 1992 he went to Ecuador as a missionary and from then on worked in the Archdiocese of Portoviejo .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on February 19, 2008 titular bishop of Bossa and auxiliary bishop in Guayaquil . The Archbishop of Guayaquil, Antonio Arregui Yarza , donated him episcopal ordination on April 5 of the same year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Giacomo Guido Ottonello , Apostolic Nuncio in Ecuador, and Francesco Pio Tamburrino OSB , Archbishop of Foggia-Bovino .

On March 25, 2011 he was by Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Ibarra. Pope Francis accepted Maggi's early resignation on October 13, 2018.
