Vaterland is the 17th studio album by the singer and songwriter Konstantin Wecker from 2001.

The song of the same name on the album Vaterland is Wecker's second song with this title after the Vaterland from 1979. 2018 appeared on the album Sage No! Antifascist songs 1978 to this day the song Vaterland? . With songs like Amerika , Wenn die Börsianer Tanz or the theme song Vaterland , Wecker draws attention to problems that are looming for the coming years. This is Wecker's second song with this title after the fatherland from 1979. Wecker sets the Goethe poem to music with An den Mond , the text of the Italian Girasoli is by Stefan Winkler, Alexa Rodrian acted as a duo partner. Hanns Dieter Hüsch can be heard at the beginning of his song Do you know these sudden seconds . Wehdam (Bavarian for pain, discomfort ) is a “Bavarian blues” according to the title, with I werd oid the refrain is in Bavarian. The CD also contains the lullaby (here as Lullaby II ) that Wecker had written and set to music two years earlier for the multimedia project “There was a child on the trees” by Jutta Richter and Katrin Engelking . He had already published " Liebesdank " on the CD "Liebeslieder".

Version III by Willy follows as a bonus track . The CD ends with a hidden track : It is a recording that was made with Wecker as a student by his music teacher Bissinger at the Wilhelmsgymnasium and his piano accompaniment. Wecker sings the Heidenröslein in the setting by Franz Schubert .

The CD was presented on September 10, 2001. The desired media attention was low due to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 . Wecker reacted to the attacks on the blog on his website. On the following tour and the CD Vaterland live 01/02, he added the incidents according to the song Willy to a new version and classified the song America accordingly.

Gerd Baumann was the producer and Peter Kirsten was executive producer . The arrangements of the songs were done by Gerd Baumann, Jens Fischer Rodrian, Jo Barnikel and Wolfgang Roth. The sound engineer was Klaus Strazicky with his assistant Martin Schweikhofer, the sound engineer was Michael Gerlach with his assistant Lukas Roth. The mixing took place in the recording studio Robert Hafner (Ebreichsdorf near Vienna) with sound engineer Jörg Mayr, assistant Bernd Unterweger. The CD was mastered by Kai Blankenburg in the Skyline Studios Düsseldorf.

The design of the CD was done by Martin Kett, the photos of the booklet are by Thomas Carsten.
