The Verden Moor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Kirchlinteln in the Verden district .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 176 is 91 hectares in size. It is located in the east of the Verden district and protects the rest of a raised bog area that has been drained and heavily modified by peat extraction . The peat extraction has created a body of water in the center of the protected area. In the peripheral area, partial areas have been cultivated as grassland or are used for forestry, in places there are heather areas . Partial areas in the center of the protected area have not been pitted.
The moor area is extensively bush-covered. By decussing and rewetting the bog, parts of the area are about to regenerate. However, the low precipitation years 2018 and 2019 resulted in a sharp decline in surface water.
The area is drained to the east to the Lehrde and to the west to the Gohbach .
The area has been a nature reserve since December 16, 1989. The local NABU group, which has made a significant contribution to the protection, offers a free guided tour through the moor once a year. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Verden.
