Publishing house + agency Werner Symanek

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The VAWS , known as VAWS is a publisher and record label from Oberhausen with publishing address in Duisburg . The Office for the Protection of the Constitution classifies the publisher as right-wing extremist .

history

There are divergent information about the establishment of the Werner Symanek Verlag + Agentur, VAWS for short. In the handbook for right-wing radicalism , edited by Bernd Wagner and Thomas Grumke , the foundation is placed in the mid-1980s. The apabiz, however, dates the founding to the year 1992. According to Alfred Schobert , the publishing house moved in 1993 from Gladbeck to Bingen am Rhein and later to Duisburg .

Josef Maria Klumb worked “temporarily” for VAWS, but described this activity as “insignificant”. The author collective Ingo Taler, on the other hand, assumes a friendship between Klumb and Symanek. Several works by Klumb's bands Circle of Sig-Tiu , Forthcoming Fire and Von Thronstahl appeared on the label, and he was responsible for the compilation of two recordings. In addition, Josef Maria Klumb had to leave the band Weissglut in 1998 because the news magazine Der Spiegel made his work public. A defamation suit against the news magazine was later withdrawn by Klumb.

offer

The publishing house concentrates its program on books dealing with secret services, political scandals and conspiracy theories . The music program is aimed primarily at the black scene . In 1998 the Feindflug -Maxi-CD I./ST.G.3 appeared on the label. In addition to several publications by bands close to Josef Maria Klumb, the publisher has released several themed CDs dedicated to controversial cultural workers who were also active in the Third Reich , such as Leni Riefenstahl , Josef Thorak and Arno Breker .

In the mid-1990s, VAWS published the monthly magazine Independent News .

Perception as a neo-Nazi label

Ingo Taler writes in Out of Step that Werner Symanek has been "active within the extreme right since the early 1980s" and refers to his chairmanship of the German Democratic People's Movement (DDVB) from 1983 and his "press law responsibility for the Independent News , which has been published as a monthly publication by the extreme right since 1969 [sic!] ”. The protection of the Constitution described the label in the 2002 report as a smaller right-wing extremist label with a special offer. The Office for the Protection of the Constitution said at that point:

"The alleged fascination with the aesthetics of fascism and National Socialism are to be revived through special offers and events, thus promoting right-wing extremist views on a cultural level."

- Constitutional Protection Report 2002

In 2003 the publisher brought a lawsuit against the grouping Goths against right . The lawsuit was directed against the Admin-C of the group's website. This website claims that the VAWS would publish tips "on evading laws against hate speech and racist calls for murder". The lawsuit was withdrawn after the parties reached a settlement.

Parts of the offer are described as revisionist , war-glorifying and racist . Among other things, the publisher is said to have distributed writings by Jan van Helsing , Helena Petrovna Blavatsky , Guido von List , the diaries of Joseph Goebbels , titles such as The Forced War by David L. Hoggan , and NS-UFO videos. In the 2001 report on the protection of the constitution, the books A "Nazi" in Argentina and Dr. G. - Master of Propaganda by Wilfred von Oven , a former colleague of Joseph Goebbels, "exemplarily named".
