Vermillion is a city in Dakota County of the US state of Minnesota in the Midwest of the United States . At the time of the 2010 United States Census , Vermillion had 419 residents.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 2.51 km 2 , of which 2.49 km 2 is land and 0.02 km 2 is water.
The main streets of the town are Main Street (County Road 62), Fischer Avenue (County Road 66) and Goodwin Avenue (County Road 85). US Highway 52 and Northfield Boulevard are nearby.
The Vermillion River flows through the village. Nearby are Hampton , New Trier , Hastings , Rosemount , Coates and Northfield .
Vermillion is geographically entirely within the Vermillion Township , but does not belong to it.

2000 census
At the time of the United States Census 2000, the Vermillion inhabited 437 people. The population density was 168.7 people per km ². There were 161 housing units at an average of 62.2 per km². The Vermillion population was 97.03% White , 0.46% Black or African American , 0% Native American , 0% Asian , 0.23% Pacific Islander , 1.37% said they were racial , and 0, 92% named two or more races. 2.06% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of Vermillion were distributed in 160 households out of which 38.8% had children under the age of 18. 68.1% of households were married, 4.4% had a female head of the household without a husband, and 26.3% were not families. 20.6% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 9.4% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.19.
The population was divided into 25.4% minors, 9.6% 18–24 year olds, 31.6% 25–44 year olds, 21.3% 45–64 year olds and 12.1% aged 65 and over or more. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 women there were 104.2 men. For every 100 women over the age of 18, there were 98.8 men.

There were a total of 168.5 residential units, that is 162 per square kilometer. 96.4% of the population were White, 0.2% African American, 0% Natives, 1.4% Asians, and 0% Pacific Islanders. 0% said they belonged to two or more races and 1.9 said they belonged to other races. 0.2% of the population identified themselves as Hispanics or Latinos.
Of the 156 households, 0.2 were families. There were minors in 32.7% of households and married couples in 67.3% of households. Wives without husbands led 5.8% of households and men without wives led 4.5% of households. 22.4% of households were made up of non-families and 18.6% of households were made up of individuals and 10.3% of households were made up of individuals who were over 65 years of age at the time of the survey. The average household size was 2.67 people, families had an average of 3.03 members.
