The Vernon Township is one of 17 townships in Dubuque County in eastern US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .

Vernon Township is located in eastern Iowa on the southwestern outskirts of Dubuque , the center of the region on the Mississippi , which separates Iowa from Illinois .
The Vernon Township is 42 ° 25'52 "north latitude and 90 ° 50'26" west longitude. The township extends over 94.3 km².
The Vernon Township is located in the southern center of Dubuque County and is bordered to the north by the Center Township , northeast of the city of Dubuque, on the east by the Table Mound Township , on the southeast by the Washington Township , on the south by the Prairie Creek Township , in Southwest to Whitewater Township , to the west to Taylor Township and to the northwest to Iowa Township .

US Highway 20 , which has been developed into a freeway and forms the shortest connection from Waterloo to Dubuque, runs through the township in an east-west direction . There are also subordinate roads within the Township County Roads and partly unpaved roads.
Through the north of the Center Township Vernon a railway line of the Canadian National Railway , which leads from Chicago via Dubuque to the west.
The nearest airports are Dubuque Regional Airport (around 20 km east) and Monticello Regional Airport (around 40 km southwest).
