The Jefferson Township is one of 17 townships in Dubuque County in eastern US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .

Jefferson Township is located in eastern Iowa around 20 km northwest of Dubuque , the center of the region on the Mississippi , which separates Iowa from Wisconsin and Illinois .
The Jefferson Township lies at 42 ° 36'27 "north latitude and 90 ° 50'43" west longitude and extends over 112.6 km², which is distributed over 110.3 km² of land and 2.3 km² of water.
The Iowa Township borders within Dubuque County in the east on the Peru Township , in the southeast on the Dubuque Township , in the south on the Center Township , in the southwest on the Iowa Township and in the west on the Concord Township . In the extreme northwestern tip, the township borders Clayton County . The northern limit of Jefferson Township is formed by the Mississippi, on the opposite bank of which is Grant County in Wisconsin.

By Jefferson Township of the Iowa-section runs parallel to the Mississippi Great River Road forming US Highway 52 , which in this section with the Iowa Highway 3 is congruent. All other roads within the township are partly unpaved county roads and further subordinate roads.
A Canadian Pacific Railway runs through Jefferson Township on the west bank of the Mississippi .
