The Center Township is located in eastern Iowa on the western outskirts of Dubuque , the center of the region on the Mississippi separating Iowa from Illinois .
The Center Township is traversed by the Little Maquoketa River and is located at 42 ° 30'54 "north latitude and 90 ° 50'30" west longitude. The township extends over 93.36 km².
The Center Township is located in the northeastern center of Dubuque County and borders on the Jefferson Township in the north, the Peru Township in the northeast, the Dubuque Township and the city of Dubuque in the east, the Vernon Township in the south, and the Taylor Township in the southwest , to the west to Iowa Township and to the northwest to Concord Township .

The Canadian National Railway runs through the extreme southeast of Center Township and runs west from Chicago via Dubuque.
