The Prairie Creek Township is located in eastern Iowa around 25 km southwest of Dubuque , the center of the region on the Mississippi that separates Iowa from Wisconsin and Illinois .

The Prairie Creek Township borders within Dubuque County in the west on the Whitewater Township , in the northwest on the Taylor Township , in the north on the Vernon Township , in the northeast on the Mosalem Township and in the east on the Washington Township . To the south, the Prairie Creek Township borders Jackson County .

US Highway 151 , which has been developed into a freeway and forms the shortest connection from Dubuque to the southwestern Cedar Rapids , runs through Prairie Creek Township . All other roads within the township are county roads and further subordinate and partly unpaved roads.
