The Whitewater Township is one of 17 townships in Dubuque County in eastern US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .

The Whitewater Township is located in eastern Iowa about 40 km southwest of Dubuque , the center of the region on the Mississippi separating Iowa from Illinois . The township is traversed in the extreme southwest by the northern Maquoketa River .
The Whitewater Township is 42 ° 20'11 "north latitude and 90 ° 56'36" west longitude and extends over 92 km².
The Whitewater Township borders within Dubuque County on the Cascade (in the west), the Dodge (in the northwest), the Taylor (in the north), the Vernon (in the northeast) and the Prairie Creek Township in the east. To the south, Whitewater Township borders Jones County .

US Highway 151 , which has been developed into a freeway, runs through the Whitewater Township from southwest to northeast and meets a number of subordinate roads within the township.

The only independent municipality is the small town of Cascade (with the status " City "), which belongs to part of the neighboring Cascade Township and to another part of Jones County .
Fillmore , a settlement that does not belong to any community (" Unincorporated Community "), is about 10 km east-northeast of Cascade .
