Veronica Webb (born February 23, 1965 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American model , presenter , author and actress . As the first model with dark skin color, she received an advertising contract with an internationally important cosmetics company. Veronica Webb has appeared on the covers of Vogue and Elle and has appeared on the runway for Chanel and Victoria's Secret .

life and career

Webb graduated from Detroit Waldorf School and then moved to New York City to study at Parsons School for Design . After she was discovered by a talent scout in the fashion industry in 1985 and received her first jobs, she dropped out of her studies in favor of a career as a model. After a long stay in Paris , she returned to New York in the early 1990s and made her film debut in the 1991 drama Jungle Fever, directed by Spike Lee . Other roles in dramas such as Spike Lee's Malcolm X (1992) or comedies such as Men's Circus (2001, with Ashley Judd ) followed. In 1992 she contracted the cosmetics company Revlon.

Webb also worked as a freelance editor for Interview magazine, wrote articles for Elle , Details and Paper magazines, and the New York Times . In 1998 she published the book Veronica Webb Sight: Adventures in the Big City .

As a television presenter, Webb appeared on various fashion shows and acted as a correspondent for the news program Good Morning America . In 2007 she co-hosted the first season of the reality show Tim Gunn 's Guide to Style .

From 2002 to 2009, Webb was married to underwater archaeologist George Robb, with whom she has two daughters.
