Ville Husso (born February 6, 1995 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League since May 2016 and with their farm team , the San Antonio Rampage , in the American since October 2017 Hockey League is playing.

Career

Ville Husso started his career at Helsingfors IFK from his hometown Helsinki, where he went through all youth teams. With the A youth team, he became Finnish champion in 2012. On September 19, 2013 he made his debut against Porin Ässät in the Liiga and immediately developed into a permanent fixture of the team: by 2016 he had played 121 main round and 20 play-off games for the HIFK. In the 2015/16 season he was awarded the Urpo-Ylönen trophy as the best goalkeeper with the best catch quota and the lowest goals against goals and thus contributed significantly to the runner-up title of his club. Having already the KHL Junior Draft 2012 of Metallurg Novokuznetsk was taken in the fifth round as the 145th player overall, two years later voted him the St. Louis Blues in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in the fourth round at a total of 94 out of.

The Blues brought him to North America in 2016 and assigned him to their Chicago Wolves farm team , for whom he played in the American Hockey League . But it was also used by the Missouri Mavericks from the third-class ECHL . Since 2017, Rampage has also played in the AHL for San Antonio .

International

Ville Husso represented his home country in the junior division at the U18 World Cup in 2013 , when he won the bronze medal without any effort, and the U20 World Cup in 2014 , when he was world champion with the Finnish U20 selection , and in 2015 .

At the Euro Hockey Tour 2015/16 , Husso made his debut in the Finnish men's national team . His first appearance in a major tournament was at the 2018 World Cup , when he was on the ice in three games.
