Villiers-sur-Tholon is a commune Déléguée in the French community Montholon with 469 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Yonne in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Bourgogne ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Auxerre .
The municipality of Villiers-sur-Tholon was merged with Aillant-sur-Tholon , Champvallon and Volgré on January 1, 2017 to form the new municipality ( Commune nouvelle ) Montholon. The municipality belonged to the canton of Charny (until 2015 Aillant-sur-Tholon ).
