history

baroque chapel Mariahilf

The first written mention of the village of Winarz , which belongs to Bořek Castle , was made in 1417. The name of the place is derived from the viticulture practiced here and changed in the course of history from Winarzice and Winice to Weingarten . In 1579 the village was attached to the Hagensdorf rule together with Hannersdorf . In the 1650s, Weingarten became part of the Priesen estate . The parish and school location has always been Görkau . Construction of the chapel began in 1765 and, due to lack of money, it took seven years. In June 1771 Weingarten and Pirken were hit by a severe flood; Weingarten is said to have been flooded for six days. This seems unlikely because of the hillside location of the village, but there were 91 rainy days in the period May – September 1771. In autumn 1771, after the poor harvest, there was famine and epidemics broke out, as a result of which the wealthy residents left the village. In the 1770s Weingarten consisted of 17 houses. 14 inns had reciprocal licensing rights. The inhabitants made their living from agriculture, which was dominated by viticulture, cattle breeding and fruit growing, especially cherries and walnuts. Flax was also grown and home weaving was carried out. In 1813 Weingarten and Pirken were attacked by Russian Cossacks, who set up camp near the village. In 1847 Weingarten consisted of 17 houses and 113 inhabitants.

After the abolition of patrimonial Weingarten / Vinařice formed from 1850 a district of the political municipality Hannersdorf in the district authority Komotau. In 1868 the village was incorporated into Görkau. The mountain association laid out a hiking route above the village in 1882 and a wooden observation tower was built on the vineyard. Viticulture was given up at the beginning of the 20th century and fruit growing flourished with the establishment of new cherry orchards. After the Munich Agreement , the village was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Komotau district until 1945 .

After the end of the Second World War Vinařice came back to Czechoslovakia and the German residents were expelled . Between 1960 and 1965 the Jirkov drinking water reservoir was built northwest of the village. Between 1957 and 1967 the Podkrušnohorský přivaděč canal , which initially flowed into the Bílina southwest of Vinařice, was created. From 1973 the canal was continued south of the village on the field border with Jirkov up to the Ervěnický koridor . In 1974 the demolition of the eastern half of the village began for the construction of the prefabricated housing estates Vinařice I and II. Subsequently, the orchards were also cleared for the construction of satellite settlements in Jirkov. In 1991, 21 people lived in the eight houses in Staré Vinařice, in the prefabricated housing estates in Nové Vinařice there were 850. In 2001 the village consisted of 8 houses.
